Mariana Hernández Ampudia is a Mexican multimedia journalist born and raised in Mexico City. She was deeply aware of her country’s challenges from a young due to her family involvement in defending human rights causes, such as gender inequality and immigration.
She earned a degree in Creative Writing and Literature from Claustro de Sor Juana University and received a scholarship to pursue an MS in Journalism at Columbia University, where she will graduate in May 2025.
Mariana is working on her master’s thesis, focusing on Latinx communities in the United States and the generational shifts shaped by migration and assimilation. Her reporting explores ethnicity, race, and the social and economic crises affecting Latin America.
